A breathtaking performance of traditional Irish fiddle tunes set to new, original arrangements for Irish Fiddle Solo with String Quartet, Quintet, or Orchestra. This program is designed to share the elegant beauty & driving energy of the Irish fiddle tradition with orchestra programs in high schools, colleges, and with smaller performing string ensembles. Tonights GO Strings ensemble is Hillary Wagner, Jennifer Eyink, Lois Ramey, and, Anna Bumiller Bowman.
Gerry grew up in Dundalk, County Louth, in a family of musicians. His mother, Rose, taught fiddle in their home for 40 years. Gerry's musical history starts with winning All Ireland titles in the late 60's-'70's, travels through playing with master of Sligo fiddling John Joe Gardiner, touring & recording with members of Planxty, Bothy Band, De Dannan, Boys of the Lough, the Chieftains. Today Gerry tours with The Irish Rovers. As a soloist he performs, teaches, & lectures all over the world. He, and his music, show no signs of slowing down!
